3199 Frankston Beach Patrol

3199 Frankston Beach Patrol is a volunteer community group dedicated to keeping Frankston’s beaches and foreshore free from litter while raising awareness of the impact rubbish and plastic pollution can have on Port Phillip Bay and marine life.

The group was established in March 2015 with support from Frankston City Council. Since then, volunteers of all ages have taken part in regular beach cleans, collecting rubbish that has been dropped, blown or washed onto the foreshore and recording what they find to help build a better understanding of the litter affecting our coastline.

Beach cleans are about more than picking up rubbish. Volunteers sort and weigh what they collect, identify recyclables and different types of waste, and help raise awareness about where litter comes from and how it reaches our waterways and bay. The group also works with schools and community groups to provide environmental education and encourage people to take greater care of our coastline.

The group is led by Peter Talbot, who has been at the helm since 2017. Peter was named Frankston City’s 2026 Citizen of the Year in recognition of his leadership, beach clean-ups, work with schools and advocacy for litter reduction across Frankston’s coastline.

Everyone is welcome to get involved. The current FEFN information lists Frankston Beach Patrol’s regular clean as the third Saturday of the month, with additional clean-up days posted as they are organised.

3199 Frankston Beach Patrol is a member of the Frankston Environmental Friends Network (FEFN), connecting local volunteer organisations working to protect and care for Frankston’s natural environment.
