Profile
Action Sweetwater Creek is a volunteer community group dedicated to protecting, restoring and caring for Sweetwater Creek and its surrounding bushland.
Running from the Frankston South area to Port Phillip Bay, Sweetwater Creek is one of Frankston’s special natural environments, with pockets of remnant vegetation, native wildlife and a walking trail that follows the creek through beautiful bushland.
The volunteers of Action Sweetwater Creek work throughout the reserve on weed removal, revegetation and habitat restoration, helping indigenous plants return and creating healthier habitat for local wildlife. Working bees also give people the opportunity to learn more about the creek and the remarkable natural environment that exists so close to suburban Frankston.
The work is ongoing. Weeds and invasive species don’t stop growing, waterways change and restored areas need continued care. It is the commitment of local volunteers, working alongside other environmental organisations and agencies, that helps protect Sweetwater Creek for the future.
New volunteers are welcome, whether you’re an experienced environmental volunteer or simply someone who loves Sweetwater Creek and would like to lend a hand.
Action Sweetwater Creek is a member of the Frankston Environmental Friends Network, connecting local volunteer organisations working to protect and care for Frankston’s natural environment.
