Frankston Beach Association

The Frankston Beach Association (FBA) is a volunteer community organisation dedicated to protecting, preserving and improving Frankston’s much-loved foreshore.

The association began in 1982, when local residents came together to oppose plans for a marina at Oliver’s Hill. What started as a campaign to protect one special part of the coastline developed into more than four decades of hands-on conservation and advocacy for Frankston’s beaches and foreshore.

Today, FBA volunteers help restore and protect coastal reserves through indigenous planting, dune revegetation, weed removal, seed collection and other practical conservation work. The association also advocates for sustainable development, community access and decisions that protect the health and natural character of the beach and surrounding foreshore.

There are plenty of ways to become involved. Volunteers can help with the community plant nursery, reserve maintenance, planting days and other hands-on activities. The association meets on the second Monday of each month at 3pm in the Ash Martin Community Room, Nepean Highway, Frankston. Membership is currently $20 per household per year, with a $10 concession rate for seniors and pensioners.

Whether you want to get your hands dirty, learn more about Frankston’s coastal environment or simply support the work being done to protect it, new members and volunteers are welcome.
