Connecting the people who care for Frankston’s natural environment
The Frankston Environmental Friends Network (FEFN) brings together 21 volunteer organisations working across Frankston to care for the places, plants and wildlife that make our natural environment so special.
Across bushland reserves, beaches, creeks, wetlands and wildlife habitats, hundreds of volunteers contribute their time and local knowledge to protecting and restoring Frankston’s environment. Their work includes revegetation with indigenous plants, weed removal, habitat restoration, litter collection, monitoring local flora and fauna, wildlife rescue, environmental education and advocating for the protection of important natural areas.
FEFN connects these individual groups, giving volunteers an opportunity to share knowledge, experience and resources while strengthening the collective voice of environmental volunteering across Frankston.
The network includes Friends groups caring for individual reserves and waterways as well as organisations involved in beach care, wildlife rescue, indigenous plants, field naturalism and broader environmental protection. Some groups have been working in Frankston for decades, while others have grown in response to the changing needs of our community and environment.
You don’t need to be an environmental expert to become involved. Many of the groups welcome new volunteers of all ages and experience levels, whether you have a few hours to help at a working bee, want to learn more about your local reserve or simply want to meet people who share an interest in caring for Frankston.
Explore the FEFN member groups and discover the many ways you can get involved in protecting the Frankston we love.
