Frankston Nature Conservation Reserve Guardians

Frankston Nature Conservation Reserve Guardians is the volunteer friends group helping to protect, restore and promote one of Frankston’s most environmentally significant natural areas.

The 98-hectare reserve in Frankston South is an important remnant of native bushland within an urban setting. It contains six ecological vegetation classes of state significance and more than 240 indigenous plant species, including species considered rare within the region. The reserve also provides refuge for more than 100 recorded species of native mammals, birds, reptiles, frogs and fish.

The Guardians support the ongoing care of the reserve through monthly working bees, habitat restoration, conservation projects, community education and fundraising. Their work helps control environmental weeds, improve native habitat and protect the reserve’s remarkable biodiversity for future generations.

New members and volunteers are welcome to become involved, learn more about the local environment and contribute directly to the protection of this special part of Frankston.
