Friends of Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands

Friends of Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands is a volunteer community group dedicated to protecting, restoring and promoting one of Melbourne’s most environmentally significant wetland areas.

The Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands form part of the internationally recognised Carrum Wetlands and provide vital habitat for native wildlife, including frogs, reptiles and a remarkable variety of waterbirds. The wetlands are also an important feeding and resting place for migratory birds that travel thousands of kilometres between Australia and the Northern Hemisphere.

Volunteers help care for the wetlands through indigenous planting, revegetation, environmental weed removal and other practical conservation activities. The group also supports environmental education, guided activities and community awareness, helping people understand the ecological and historical importance of this special natural area.

Seaford working bees are held on the first Sunday of each month from April to October, from 10 am to 12 noon. New members and volunteers are welcome.

Friends of Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands is a member of the Frankston Environmental Friends Network, connecting local volunteer organisations working to protect and care for Frankston’s natural environment.
