Living with Wildlife is a Frankston-based wildlife education initiative created to inspire and empower people to protect native animals and their habitats.
Led by Janet Wheeler, a licensed wildlife shelter operator and active wildlife rescuer since 2007, the initiative shares practical knowledge gained through caring for injured and orphaned native animals.
Through educational talks, workshops, activities and community event displays, Living with Wildlife helps children and adults understand the challenges faced by animals living in suburban environments. Programs cover wildlife-friendly gardening, habitat boxes, biodiversity and simple changes people can make around their homes to reduce harm and support local species.
Living with Wildlife works with schools, community organisations and environmental groups throughout Frankston and surrounding areas. Janet is also involved with AWARE Wildlife Rescue, Frankston’s Gardens for Wildlife program and volunteers in bushland regeneration.
Living with Wildlife is a member of the Frankston Environmental Friends Network, connecting local volunteer organisations working to protect and care for Frankston’s natural environment.
